About

Patrick Nagel (1945 - 1984) was an American artist and illustrator is best known for his imagery of beautiful women in a distinctive style derived from art deco and pop art.  Nagel's popularity grew with his illustrations for Architectural Digest, Playboy, the cover artwork for Duran Duran's album, Rio (acclaimed as one of the top album covers of all time), and countless commissioned advertisement posters. Nagel's women were iconic and shaped the trends and style of the late 1970's and early 1980's.

His originals paintings, serigraphs, and posters are on permanent display in the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, and the Musee de L'Affiche, in Paris.
