Original oil painting from the 1700's of the famed Norwegian who is said to have reached the age of 145. The artist name is not listed but this work is believed to have been made during the lifetime of Drakenberg and possibly even commissioned by him, as in the portrait he is holding a card showing his birth date and what we believe to be the year this artwork was painted, 1752.
Christian Jacobsen Drakenberg was a Norwegian mariner who, according to his data, was born in 1626 in Blomsholm, Norway, and thus reached the age of 145. The claims have since been demonstrated farfetched but at the time it was broadly acknowledged and contributed to his impressive popularity.
