Liberté des Libertés (Freedom of Freedoms) represents a unique collaboration between renowned artist Joan Miró and poet Alain Jouffroy. This 1971 collection, published by Le Soleil Noir, merges Jouffroy’s poetry with Miró’s artistic vision through nine original prints—four color lithographs, four in black, and one etching with aquatint.
Each piece powerfully captures the struggle for freedom using spontaneous, almost childlike imagery infused with passion and vitality. Inspired by Miró's personal experiences during Catalonia’s fight for freedom following the Spanish civil war of 1936-39.
This particular etching is part of a rare limited edition of 24, numbered “XI/XXIV” in Roman numerals, hand-signed by Miró, and printed by the master printers at Ateliers Arte-Adrien Maeght, Paris. This edition is noted for its exceptional print quality, surpassing the broader edition of 125.
