Published in 1939, La Revue Verve Vol. II Nos. 5-6 is an achievement in modern art publishing. This series was centered on the profound theme of "La Figure Humaine" (The Human Figure), released as a double issue it focused on the evolution of the human form through a dialogue between contemporary avant-garde vision and historical masterworks. Verve's legendary publisher, Tériade commissioned a extraordinary roster of 20th-century masters, including Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, and Paul Klee, among others, to create new original lithographs.
Each lithograph was executed through carefull collaboration with the legendary Mourlot Frères studio in Paris, the absolute premier lithographer of the era.
