About

This lithograph is an exact replica of the original 1966 poster for the Big Brother and The Holding Company and Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, California on June 24 - 25, 1966.

This was Janis Joplin's first performance with Big Brother. A play on rolling papers, the Zig Zag Man design was so popular that it quickly became the most highly pirated of all the Family Dog concert poster designs.

This caused famed 1960's San Francisco concert promoter Bill Graham and his team The Family to create a "Genuine Counterfeit" stamp which they stamped on as many as of the fakes as they could.

The irony behind the piracy - the print contains the phrase "What you don't know about copying and duplicating won't hurt you."

The lithograph is hand signed by both Mouse and Kelley.

This print was published by Rhino Entertainment and is from a limited edition of 500, numbered in pencil in the corner.

This print was created in a three stage process on a antique French Marinoni Voirin flat bed press and printed on the highest quality Rives BFK paper.
