A exceptionally rare piece this is a prototype Stanley Cup player ring for Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman, the ring was presented to the Red Wings after their 2002 Stanley Cup Championship as a potential design. The Red Wings eventually went with a different design for the front however the sides are the exact same as those eventually issued to the players. The ring is stamped 14K Intergold on the inside band and weighs 60 grams. The ring features the logo of the Red Wings, surrounded by "Stanley Cup Champions."
The 2001-02 Detroit team is regarded by many sports pundits to be one of the greatest in NHL history. The team roster held 10 future Hall of Fame players including Dominic Hasek, Brett Hull, Luc Robitaille, Sergei Federov and Steve Yzerman.
