1994 University of North Carolina Sun Bowl - Player Ring
An authentic player-issued bowl ring from the 1994 University of North Carolina Tar Heels football team, crafted by Jostens in 10K gold and set with cubic zirconia stones. This ring commemorates the Tar Heels' appearance in the 1994 Sun Bowl, played December 29, 1994, in El Paso, Texas. This ring was originally awarded to running back Jonathan Linton. Linton later went to the NFL as a 5th round raft pick for the Buffalo Bills where he played in the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons.
Under seventh-year head coach Mack Brown, the Tar Heels finished the 1994 season 8–4 overall (5–3 in ACC play) and were ranked in the national polls entering their bowl matchup against the Texas Longhorns. The game was a back-and-forth offensive battle: North Carolina led 31–21 in the fourth quarter behind big plays including an 82-yard punt return touchdown, but Texas answered with two late rushing scores from Priest Holmes to win 35–31.
