A true rarity for collectors, this is a prototype Balfour 1968 New York Jets Super Bowl III Championship Ring. Crafted by L.G. Balfour, this design features a centrally mounted green stone, which was later replaced with a diamond in the final design.
The 10k yellow gold ring features bold "NEW YORK JETS WORLD CHAMPIONS" lettering on the face with a green central stone and CZ accents. The left shank is engraved with the AFL logo, the final score "Jets 16 Colts 7," and "SUPER BOWL" details. The opposite shank features Joe Namath's retired number 12 under a Jets helmet.
As a genuine factory prototype, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the development of these iconic championship rings and commemorates the Jets' stunning 16-7 upset victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.
