Picasso transformed a classic 18th-century natural history text, belonging to Dora Maar,  into a modern menagerie. Using the book's margins as a creative playground, he produced a series of portraits and sketches of animals, from lions to monkeys, rendered with fluid, spontaneous lines. Released as a limited edition set of plates after the original sketches.  Printed by Atelier Duval and published by Jonquières, these works are prized by collectors for their "marginalia" style, where Picasso’s avant-garde sketches breathe vibrant, new life into traditional scientific illustrations.
