Joseph Fernand Henri Léger was born February 4, 1881, in Argentan, France. Fernand was a French painter, artist, and filmmaker. In his early works, he made an individual frame of cubism which he slowly adjusted into a more metaphorical, populist fashion. His strongly rearranged treatment of present-day subject matter has caused him to be respected as a forerunner of pop craftsmanship.
