Unique and highly collectible artwork from the limited edition Parisian art publication the Verve Review. Verve was created to help bring the works of emergent Modernist and Surrealist painters to a wider public. The review broke new ground in the art scene, taking an edgier stance than most of its contemporaries and concentrating on surrealism and the avante garde.
The Verve Review, like much in mid century Parisian society, was a purposefully luxurious magazine. The Verve Review ran from 1937 to 1960, and due to the high degree of design and editorial work dedicated to each issue, only 38 issues were printed. Each edition contained unique lithographic prints, and this artwork is one of those lithographs.
