The Akerendam was a ship of the Dutch East India Company which sank in 1725 during a snowstorm off the coast of Runde Island, Norway, tragically claiming the lives of all 200 crew members. After lying on the seabed for 250 years, the coins were rediscovered by divers in 1972. Each coin has been authenticated and encapsulated by NGC as salvaged from the wreck.
