This book was included on Time magazine's list of the "100 Best English Language Novels released from 1923-2005," it tells the story of John Grimes an teenager in 1930's Harlem. Baldwin was an influential writer and public figure involved in the United States Civil Rights Movement, who had a profound impact on American literature. Literary critic Harold Bloom ranked Baldwin as "among the most considerable moral essayists in the United States."

This book is from the special 1979 limited edition run that was signed by Baldwin and illustrated by Burt Silverman. Bound in genuine brown leather with gold stamped decorations this is a fine example of this classic, sure to bring pride to any collector.
