About

Color poster issued in 1942 taken from a cartoon story by Eric Ericson titled "the sound that kills: don't murder men with idle words" depicting how a person's innocent remarks can travel from a local diner or bus, streetcar, or train to an enemy submarine and bring about the death of the ship's crew and the destruction of its cargo.

This item is an authentic World War II-era war bond poster. A war bond is an initiative by a government to fund military operations and spending by issuing debt for the public to purchase. The public may buy these bonds out of a feeling of patriotic duty, or other emotional appeals. Although war bonds do not typically pay interest, they are sold at a discount that matures to face value, typically after a period of 10-30 years.
