Collection: Le Goût du Bonheur

Released in 1970, just three years before his death in 1973, Le Goût du Bonheur (The Taste of Happiness) stands as one of Picasso’s most significant late-career achievements. The portfolio features 71 intimate drawings selected from the artist's personal 1964 sketchbooks, portraying caricatures of friends, self portraits in various styles, and other happy, playful, and erotic images.

Created in collaboration with master printer Gunther Dietz, these works are sophisticated stencil print serigraphs.  They represent a unique technique, different than Picasso's other works, that apply the original materials- charcoal, grease crayon, and lead pencil- directly to the paper, retaining the texture of the original works. This set is one of 666 distributed by Harry N. Abrams, Picasso's trusted North American publisher.
