About

Salvador Dalí is best known for his unique Surrealistic visions of the world creating magnificent artworks that captivate viewers to this day. The Catalan Master is considered among the great graphic master of this century.

This artwork is from Dali's Le Tricorne (The Three Cornered Hat) suite, a collection of twenty wood engravings illustrating the story written by Pedro A. de Alarcon. Dali’s illustrations for Le Tricorne find a balance between the beautiful and the morbid. Two hundred sixty copies were printed in Auvergne paper, watermarked with the tricorne. These papers were specially produced sheet by sheet by hand. The collection is referenced in the Salvador Dali Catalogue Raisonne of Print-Micheler Lopsinger #1018 to 1037 & Field 59-1 (pg. 20-21).
