Patrick Nagel (1945 - 1984) was an American artist and illustrator best known for his imagery of beautiful women in a distinctive style derived from art deco and pop art. Nagel's popularity grew with his illustrations for Architectural Digest, Playboy, the cover artwork for Duran Duran's album, Rio (acclaimed as one of the top album covers of all time), and countless commissioned advertisement posters. Nagel's women were iconic and shaped the trends and style of the late 1970's and 1980's.
His original paintings, serigraphs, and posters are on permanent display in the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, and the Musee de L'Affiche, in Paris.
This serigraph was printed on 100% archival grade rag paper for Mirage Editions, Inc by Jeff Wasserman in May of 1980. Hanson Real Estate Investments commissioned Nagel, who then marketed these signed and numbered limited edition advertisement posters to individual art collectors.
