Neal Preston's Famous Robert Plant "Dove Shot"

One of rocks most iconic images, this candid snap of Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant was captured by Neal Preston during the band's June 2, 1973 performance at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, CA. As part of the act dozens of white doves were released from behind the stage, amazingly one dove circled back and briefly landed on Plant's outstretched hand. As described by Preston, "I knew it was a nice picture. With the dove and the Newcastle Brown Ale he’s drinking, it’s so British and so Robert. Nobody else could have pulled that off without looking pretentious. Robert was a country boy. He grew up around animals and has the look of someone who understands nature. Of course, he might just have been thinking: “How the fuck did you end up on my hand?” But I think there’s more to it than that. It’s a look of calm, understanding and respect."

This print belongs to a highly coveted limited edition, numbered 59/225, and is both titled and hand-signed by the photographer himself. In addition to being printed with archival pigment ink, it has also been expertly framed with archival materials to protect and ensure the logevity of this historic moment.
