This is a 1944 Leica IIIc German Military camera issued to the German air force or Luftwaffe during WWII. The serial numbers do match shipping records and on the back of the camera is a very faint engraving of "Luftwaffen-Eingentum" (translation: Air Force Property) that was painted over by a previous owner. Such coverings are common for these cameras as the owners did not want to be associated with the German military after the war yet wanted to use the high quality Leica camera. This is a grey painted model with the kugelager (ball bearing) shutter as indicated by the K in the serial number. Includes leather case.
These cameras are exceptionally rare and highly coveted by collectors of militaria.
Dimensions: 6” x 3” x 3”
