This is from the album cover photo session for Walls and Bridges by John Lennon. Shot by Bob Gruen as color slides on commission from Capitol Records. The original concept was to create a flip book effect of different eyes, noses, and mouths of Lennon. First printings of the album work this way.
These original prints were uncovered in the Capitol Records art department at the famous Capitol Tower Hollywood when the record company offices were being renovated in 2006. Generally it has been agreed upon that these were printed as a proposed limited edition, possibly to promote the 50th anniversary of Capitol Records in 1992. The US Postal Service issued one of these images as its John Lennon commemorative on September 7, 2018.
This print is personally guaranteed by Warwick Stone (The Rock Collector and "Pawn Stars" expert) to be one of those from Capitol Records.
