1996 Tampa Bay Storm ArenaBowl X Championship Ring - Player Issued

This is a player-issued 1996 Tampa Bay Storm ArenaBowl X Championship ring in 10k gold — a piece of arena football history from what has been officially recognized as the greatest game ever played in the Arena Football League. If you collect championship rings from any sport, this one belongs in the conversation.

The greatest game in AFL history

ArenaBowl X was voted the #1 greatest game in Arena Football League history by the AFL's own historical committee. On August 26, 1996, the #2 Tampa Bay Storm traveled to Des Moines to face the #1 Iowa Barnstormers in a back-and-forth thriller broadcast on ESPN. Iowa led with less than a minute remaining before Tampa Bay retook the lead with a Jay Gruden-to-Stevie Thomas touchdown pass. Iowa then drove to Tampa Bay's one-yard line with the game on the line — and on four straight plays, the Storm defense kept the Barnstormers out of the end zone. Final score: Tampa Bay 42, Iowa 38. Stevie Thomas was named ArenaBowl MVP. The quarterback the Storm stopped at the goal line? A young Kurt Warner — three years before he became a Super Bowl champion and NFL MVP.

The victory gave the Storm their fourth championship in six seasons and completed back-to-back ArenaBowl titles — a dynasty run that cemented Tampa Bay as the premier franchise in arena football history. It was also the final game for quarterback Jay Gruden, who went out as a champion in one of the sport's most celebrated performances.

Why Arena Football championship rings are so rare

The Arena Football League operated for over three decades and produced some of the most thrilling indoor football ever played — yet AFL championship rings almost never surface on the collector market. Roster sizes were smaller than in the NFL, fewer rings were produced per championship, and the league's dedicated but niche fanbase means these pieces have largely stayed in private hands.

Crafted in 10k gold, this ring was produced to the exacting standards of a legitimate professional championship piece. An extraordinary find for sports collectors.
