About

1987 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Championship ring that was awarded to Claire Rothman, the LA Forum President during the Lakers "Showtime" Dynasty. The ring was made from 14k yellow gold with diamonds by Jostens and features an enameled Lakers logo on the right chank and an NBA logo on the left.

Claire Rothman was a trailblazing executive in the male dominated sports world. Hired in 1975 by Lakers owner Jack Kent Cooke, she was instrumental in transforming the Forum into a cultural landmark by overseeing the venue during the infamous Lakers "Showtime" era and bringing in major concerts like Prince. In a 1985 profile by The Times she was quoted, "I am the only woman in the United States who runs a major sports arena. I have a variety of duties. I book the building. I schedule the sports. The box office answers to me, all the staff answers to me, and at night I get to go play hostess."
