The 1964-69 Canadiens are still heralded as one of the great dynasties in the NHL. Over that span they earned three first place finishes and appeared in the Stanley Cup in all five seasons, winning 4. This season saw the Canadiens defeat the Detroit Red Wings in their fifth Stanley Cup matchup going back to 1952. The Canadiens won their seventh NHL Championship in 6 games, 4-2.
