An exceptional blade from the Sanjo Yoshinori lineage, which traces back to the Yamashiro tradition smiths whose work was so highly valued that examples remained in active use for centuries.
Includes the traditional undecorated wooden handle and sheath known as a "shirasaya" for storage, as well as the ornate "Koshirae" mounting and scabbard with wooden blade for storage or practice. Typically blades of this caliber will be kept in the shirasaya for long term storage to prevent damage to the blade from lacquered wood and moisture.
This katana has been inspected, authenticated, polished and sharpened under the supervision of the leading US authority on Japanese swords and "Pawn Stars" expert, Mike Yamasaki.
