The Mihara school was founded during the Kamakura period. 1306 to 1334 AD. Blades of the early Ko-Mihara are for the most part "O-Suriage" Which means "significantly shortened". This is due to the great length that it gave mounted warriors a distinct advantage. These works have a strong Yamato influence and occasionally Bizen influence. This is signed by swordsmith, Masanobu.
The extreme sharpness and durability of the Mihara blades makes these blades highly sought after.
