Guernica: Lithographs After Preliminary Studies that Lead to the Creation of a Masterpiece

In 1990 & 1991, to commemorate the permanent return of Guernica to Spain, this significant limited-edition portfolio was released featuring the 42 preliminary studies Picasso created for his masterpiece. Published in collaboration with the Prado Museum, SPADEM, and the Picasso Estate, these high-fidelity authorized lithographs after Picasso’s sketchbook were printed by the renowned Akademische Druck-u. Verlagsanstalt in Graz, Austria. Each work, ranging from visceral sketches of the weeping woman to the agonized horse, faithfully reproduces the artist's original laboratory of ideas on paper and vellum. Authenticated by official estate stamps and embossed seals, these editions allow collectors to own the intimate, step-by-step evolution of the 20th century’s most powerful anti-war statement.
