Stack up your pennies for this Model F2 coin counter manufactured by Standard Johnson Co. Inc in Brooklyn, NY. This coin counter from the early 20th century is still operational and works great! This piece is made of cast steel and aluminum and features an oak surface. It operates on a belt driven motor and features an “on/off” switch on the side.

The machine has a counter for “quarters”, “nickels”, “pennies”, “dimes", and "tokens". It features a silver tone metal cranker with a wooden handle to the side.

There is also a logo that is depicted in black and gold tone that reads “Counting the World’s Coins” with an eagle and American flag shield. This piece rests on a stand with wheels.

These coin counters were used by banks, steel companies, racetracks, department stores, and many more. In fact Standard & Johnson machines were so reliable that government institutions used them as well, the Royal Mint, the French Mint, and the Imperial Mint of Japan were all fans of Standard Johnson coin counters

Invented by J.M. Johnson in 1902, Johnson was a money counter at First National Bank of Chicago and wanted a machine to take over his time-consuming job of counting money. These coin counter machines were able to count up to 5x faster than a person! Soon in the 1930’s, the Standard Johnson Company manufactured 15 different models of coin counters ranging from $75 models to $2,600 models.
