Intricately designed netsuke of a elderly man from Japan. Netsuke is a term for these small sculptures that originated in 17th century Japan.  Netsuke were used by the Japanese to secure various types of containers as a button like toggle on the end of a cord attaching the containers to a sash.  Crafted using traditional techniques by skilled artisans it is an ideal decoration or accessory.
