Frank Thomas; Confrontation “Kaa And Mowgli”
This Serigraph capture the lyrical visual quality of “The Jungle Book”. This piece replicates actual animators’ drawings, made to illustrate peak moments in action sequences even before the cels were inked. Individually recreated by hand, the serigraph has been colored by silk-screen process with a master screen cut for each precisely registered color. The colors were matched exactly to the Disney Pigments used in the film.
Mowgli is startled and annoyed by meeting the huge Python, Kaa, after having escaped from him once already. It would have been possible to make this encounter a thrilling episode if we had played it from Mowgli’s standpoint with suspense and danger in facing the snake and the futility of any attempted defense.
