About

Solid brass Fireman's Megaphone ca. 1890 used in the Albany NY area, likely with the Adamsville Volunteer Fire Co. The megaphone is in good condition for it's age but does have some denting and a repair mark from a soldering seam. Includes an accompanying plaque for display with an informative placard. The megaphone has a mark reading "C2" inside the mouthpiece which may indicate it belonged to company #2.

Megaphones like this one were used by fire departments to communicate to firemen at distance over the commotion of a emergency scene. Later on ornate versions were made as gifts to commemorate milestones in a fireman's career.

Note: This Brass Megaphone shows signs of natural wear & tear such as dings, dents, and scrapes. The wooden stand for the megaphone appears worn with cosmetic flaws. Please contact us directly for more information regarding the condition of this item.

Dimensions: Approx. 21" x 9" x 7"
