This is an excellent example of a late 19th or early 20th-century American wall-mounted intercom telephone with a wood box and two metal bells located at the top. Couch & Seeley was founded around the turn of the 20th century, after the dissolution of a previous entity, Whitman & Couch. Couch participated in the turn of the century Independent Telephone Movement which ensued after the expiration of the Bell telephone patents in 1894.
