A Young Maiden Of India
How to return Mowgli to the man village was a problem for the Disney Staff as well as for the ever-patient Bagheera. Walt Knew that something was needed to make viewers feel satisfied about the boy’s return and his consequent separation from Bagheera, Baloo, and the jungle that he loved. Walt even wanted Mowgli to make this decision himself rather than having him forced to accept the safety of the man village by his animal friends. Several complicated solutions to this problem were proposed, but Walt took a simpler approach. What could be more natural than for Mowgli to see a girl for the first time and to be so enthralled that he would willingly follow her into the village. The young maiden is so charming that Mowgli is completely mesmerized.
