Louis Icart was a French artist who was born in 1888. He is most known for his drawings of glamorous women with a twist of humor and of Parisian life in the 1920s. Icart began drawing at an early age and eventually moved to Paris to study painting, drawing, and printmaking. He was influenced by the Impressionists Dega and Monet.Icart became a notable artist during the Art Deco period and surged to popularity in the U.S. and Europe in the 1920s and 1930s. His etchings reached their artistic peak during this period making Icart a symbolic figure of the Art Deco movement.  Working in the fashion industry during this time, Icart became successful financially and artistically. He had a reputation as a perfectionist, which translated well to the precision required in Art Deco. His works remain popular today and are in high demand.
