When Eyvind Earle was a child his dad gave him a choice either read 50 pages a day, or create one painting a day, he did both. Upon leaving home Earle bicycled across the country from Hollywood to New York, paying his way by painting 42 watercolors. The Metropolitan Museum of Art purchased one of his paintings for their permanent collection before he was 30. Earle was then hired by Walt Disney in 1951 and he created the looks for many Disney productions. Earle was responsible for the styling, background and colors for the highly acclaimed movie “Sleeping Beauty” and gave the movie its magical, medieval look. He also painted the dioramas for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
