About

These photos were taken at one of the most influential music festivals in history, the Monterey International Pop Festival held in San Francisco during the first days of the "Summer of Love" June 16-18, 1967.

The Beatles were invited to the festival but declined, in their stead Paul McCartney recommended a new artist that had been knocking them out of the small clubs in London, a relatively unknown artist in the US by the name of Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix's groundbreaking performance at the Monterey Festival launched him into Rock mythology and the world of music would never be the same.

Colin Beard was one of the few photographers working this historic event, the images were originally featured in Go-Set Magazines July 1967 issue, but the negatives then set dormant for decades. These prints were made from scans of the original negatives and released in a limited edition of 240 with 5 artist proofs.

Dimensions: Approx. 27 1/4" x 19 3/8" x 1"
