About

Pierre Bonnard born October 3, 1867, in Fontenay-aux-Roses, France. Pierre was a French painter, artist, and printmaker, known particularly for the stylized enhancing qualities of his canvases and his striking utilization of color. An establishing part of the Post-Impressionist gathering of avant-garde painters Les Nabis, his early work was emphatically impacted by the work of Paul Gauguin, as well as the prints of Hokusai and other Japanese specialists. Bonnard was a leading figure in the move from Impressionism to Innovation. He painted scenes, urban scenes, portraits, and intimate residential scenes, where the foundations, colors, and portrayal of fashion, as a rule, took precedence over the subject.
