About

This beautiful piece of Mexican history is a rare redware finish pottery duck from Colima. It is estimated to be made from 200 BC to 200 AD. It was acquired by the seller from a private Mezza collection in California.

The West Mexican states of Colima, Nayarit, and Jalisco are celebrated for the hollow ceramic human representation figurines, plant and creature models, and painted bowls and containers that were made during the Late Formative Period, circa 200 B.C. to A.D. 300. These ceramics artisans were among the most excellent in the history of the world with their practical and elaborate painted ceramic manifestations that were likely as appreciated by the locals two centuries back as by modern individuals today.
