Le Cocu Magnifique: Picasso’s Masterful Farce in Copper and Ink

In 1968, Picasso returned to the theatrical themes of his youth with Le Cocu Magnifique (The Magnificent Cuckold), illustrating Fernand Crommelynck’s farcical play about jealousy and paranoia. This suite of twelve masterful original etchings, often featuring aquatint and drypoint, was printed by the renowned Atelier Crommelynck (sons of the playwright) in Paris.

This edition of 200 is printed on luxurious Vélin de Rives wove paper. These prints are celebrated for their stark, rhythmic linework and raw, almost voyeuristic energy. For the collector, these works represent one of Picasso's final major graphic collaborations, created by his own hand, documenting his late-period obsession with the "Artist and Model" dynamic through the lens of tragicomedy.
