The Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) is a species of mammoth that lived during the Pleistocene epoch, and was one of the last in a line of mammoth species. These guys are a big part of our Human history as without the mammoth a lot of us would have never survived the Ice Age. We used them for food, shelter, tools and we see them depicted in the earliest human art.
This is a fully articulated 20k to 50k year old mammoth leg, the leg is all mammoth but a couple of the toe bones are from another specimen. If it wasn’t for those other toe bones, this thing would be worth around $200k! This particular piece was dug up by a farmer in Kansas in 1982. (We know this because he scratched his name and date in it before selling it, it’s now covered).
